For a developing society like Vietnam, the fire prevention and fighting are being paid attention and attention. In high-rise buildings, residential areas, places where people gather, a professional fire fighting pump system is essential for the safety of the residents.
The most popular today are fire pump systems designed in automatic or semi-automatic style, using fire pumps.
Diagram of common fire extinguishing system
A. Conventional fire pump systems will include:
- 1 main fire pump (usually electric pump ): in fire fighting mode the main fire pump will run to ensure sufficient pressure and fire fighting water flow.
- 1 backup pump (running gasoline or diesel, electricity if there is a backup generator) with equivalent capacity: during the fire, if the main power network is lost or the main pump fails to work properly, the backup pump room will be operated instead.
- 1 booster pump : is the pump used to maintain the pressure of the pipeline. Booster pumps play a very important role in pumping systems. The booster pump works when the system for some reason loses a small part of the pressure. In fire fighting mode the booster pump will stop working.
- Control cabinet :
Control cabinet is a combination of devices that control the operation of the pumps in a required way through receiving pressure signals from the pipeline system through the pressure switch or the following pressure sensor. which signals the pump to work, which pump to stop. As well as monitoring signaling the status of the system
B. Principle of operation:
With the fire protection pump system, there are 3 operating modes. Automatic operation mode, manual control mode and forced mode.

- Manual operation mode (MAN)
This mode of operation usually applies only in the case of system testing or performance testing.
When the system is set to manual start, the system allows any pump to be started by pressing the start or stop button on the pump system control cabinet.
- C resonance modes automatically (AUTO)
Automatic mode is the process of operating or stopping the pump system completely automatically without human interaction. This mode is applied when the complete system is put into operation continuously. When set to automatic it will be installed and active
The compensation pump stops when the piping pressure reaches 15% of the maintain pressure. When the piping pressure drops at least 1 Bar lower than the shutdown pressure, the booster pump will be started
Example: If the pressure is maintained on 10 bar, when the compensation pump runs to 10.15 bar, the pump will stop and when the pipe pressure is less than 9.15 bar, the pump runs.
The main electric pump starts when the pipeline pressure is at least 0.5 Bar lower than the compensating pump's starting pressure (This pressure level can be adjusted in line with reality).
The backup pump starts when the pipeline pressure is at least 1 Bar lower than the starting pressure of the main pump (This pressure level can be adjusted in line with reality).
With the fire protection pump system, when there is only a single supply water line from the pump, when the main pump and the backup pump are in operation, if someone wants to stop the pump, someone must do it by pressing the button on the cabinet. Or automatically turns off when the pump has been running for at least 10 minutes after receiving the run signal and the pressure level is higher than the maintenance pressure level.
- Forced mode:
In the event of a malfunction the pump control cannot be performed automatically or through the push buttons on the cabinet. Then there is a need for a forced start. This starter lever forces the main contact of the starter from the forced energizing of the pump (with the electric pump) or the power directly into the relay so that the diesel engine starts (With the diesel pump).
The structure of a fire pump will include 2 main parts: the pump head and the engine. The quality of the fire pump will depend on the quality of these 2 factors.
Knowing that, MASFLO offers customers a wide selection of high quality pump heads and quality standard certifications, as well as a wide range of power from 18.5kw to 310kw to meet a variety of needs. demand of customers.
