2. Notes when choosing to buy pneumatic engine butterfly valve
In order to purchase the right type of pneumatic control butterfly valve, the following points should be noted:
a) Working medium:
It is necessary to define what the working medium is in order to choose the suitable valve material, eg water, gas, chemicals, ... ..
b) Required operating conditions of pressure and temperature
Working pressure and temperature are important parameters for choosing suitable butterfly valve in general and pneumatic engine butterfly valve in particular.
- The common working pressure ranges of pneumatic engine butterfly valves such as: 10bar, 16bar, 25bar, ...
- The required working temperature will determine the materials of the Gasket for sealing the valve: common materials are EPDM (Tmax: +110 degrees C), Silicone (Tmax: +170 degrees C),….
b) Materials for manufacture of pneumatic control butterfly valve
- Depending on the working environment and the environment, to choose materials for valve parts such as valve body, valve disc, and sealing gaskets to match.
c) Connection type between pneumatic butterfly valve and pipeline
Select the appropriate connection type according to the pressure and size of the system's piping:
- Flanged connection type: butterfly valve has two side flanges, each valve flange will be fitted with the pipe flange by its own set of bolts, screws. This type of connection has good pressure resistance, often used for large size systems.
- Wafer type of connection (Wafer): The wafer butterfly valve is positioned between two flanges of the pipe thanks to the pressure of the bolt tightening process connecting the two flanges of the pipeline. Wafer type pneumatic butterfly valves are widely used in systems due to their simple construction.
d) Type of pneumatic control action
Depending on the needs of use, the installation location of the valve to choose a suitable pneumatic actuator. There are two types of control drives:
- Single acting drive air head: Only use the pressure of the compressed air in the valve opening cycle, the pressure of the spring will perform the valve closing cycle and keep the valve closed if no compressed air is supplied. Applies to valve position in systems with low opening and closing strength. This type of air head saves energy (compressed air).
- Dual acting drive air head: Apply pressure of compressed air in both opening and closing cycle. Applicable to valve position in systems requiring valve opening and closing high, frequently, continuously.
